STEAM: Unable to launch game, no crash message or crash file generated.
I'm starting this thread as the problem differs from what most people appear to have happen.

Basically you get the "loading" window from steam, that goes away and you end up with the "lag_win32_public_dev.exe" process running and using 50% CPU and about 5meg of ram. You end up having to kill the process.

I just deleted the game and fully reinstalled it through Steam, it updated, all of that, same issue.

Below is a copy/summary of what I have done to try and fix the problem, without any luck at all.

---------------------------------
System Specs:

OS: Win7 Ultimate 64bit
RAM: 4gig
CPU: Core 2 Duo, E6850
No gamepads, etc
Free space: 461gig
Video Card: nVidia 8800 GT
Native Screen res: 1680x1050

No crashlog generated, etc as it doesn't really crash, just doesn't work.

So far I've:

Uninstalled PhysX, reinstalled it (version that comes with the game).

Changed video resolutions

Attempted to delete the lag_beta folder, don't have it. Did a full system search for it as well, hidden files, etc.

Unplugged all devices (G15, G9, Razer Megalodon headset, WD 1tb backup drive)

Ran the EXE as admin
Ran the EXE in compatibility mode
Ran the EXE as both admin and in compatibility mode

Disabled AV software, run the game, same issue.

Uninstalled the game with AV disable and reinstalled game, same issue.

Validated files through Steam (They now validate successfully, they didn't before).

------------------------

Any suggestions, I'm more than willing to hear/try them, I'd love to try the game out. =)

Have you tried it with the 0.6 patch that just went live?

I am having this exact issue. Have tried various posted fixes and none have helped.

yeah, reinstalling Windows isn't much of an option right now. Not for a beta game. =)

It's also a fresh install (a few months old) so... shouldn't be anything too weird going on. I'm completely stuck though. If any of the devs want any diag reports, or whatever, let me know. I'll provide you with whatever you want.

Yea, I wouldn't recommend a re-install of Windows.
Go ahead and post your DxDiag just so it's there if the developers need it.

Here's my DXDiag (no file attachments here, so I uploaded to my website).

I'd suggest you do a full re-install of physX. Should be thread somewhere on this forum.

i know that it's very simple: but do you have "run as administrator" enabled by any chance?
(when i had that i couldn't run the game either)
